JACOBIN PIGEONS

JACOBIN PIGEONS
Fancy Pigeons, what interests me most!

A visit at my uncle’s house (Tito Vic) when I was 10-years-old is what I think triggered my love for birds. He had a bantam chicken that he was raising that always got my interest. It fascinated me that they all looked alike. I remember being chased by the mother hen whenever I came close to her chicks and my uncle will just be smiling at me and telling me that I need to stay away from them. I would often be chased until the hen was sure that her chicks were safe from harm. That summer my uncle gave me two bantam chickens and that’s how it all started.

Then I purchased homing pigeons and started training them. The fancy pigeon that attracted me most was the Jacobin, because this pigeon shows beauty and elegance. I started to purchase more fancy pigeons and started showing them. This was a hobby that I enjoyed a lot. After school and even after I started practicing Nursing, I would go to the loft just to make sure that every single bird is being attended to the fullest.

The fancy pigeon is what really caught my attention when I was showing them. The different breeds are unique; each has a special feature that makes one different from one another — the stance, mane, feathers, and other characteristics that they possess will really make you like them.

Now you ask me, why fancy pigeons? If you look at the different breeds of fancy pigeons you will get to know that each species is in some way presented all the people in different walks of life. Look at the Oriental Frill, deficient in their beak but they are able to take care of their chicks to full maturity. The Pouter has a chest bigger than its body, but that signifies why must we be proud of everything we do in life. The English Carrier is the pigeon that can transport news with ease. These are just few of the fancy pigeons. Take a glimpse at each pigeon as you would the person beside you or even yourself. You will be surprised at what you will be able to see. We all are unique. This is why I find fancy pigeons interesting, each bird standing from one to another, showing its best to the fullest.

Now the big question. Who among the fancy pigeons is my favorite? Need ask no more…it is the Jacobin and you will fall in love once you see them. Enjoy the pictures that I have and feel free to visit other Jacobin sites to know more about them.

My exposure to these fancy pigeons not only introduced me to the different breeds of pigeons, but also made me able to meet different kinds of people involved in this hobby. Each exhibitor is very much willing to give and share whatever knowledge s/he has in this hobby. In my own personal opinion, they are those people who will work with you not only to preserve the beauty of the birds, but also provide the kind of relationship they want to share with you and in turn, for you to share it with the next generation. My interactions with them truly brings out some of the best in me (not to mention the best I got from my parents, siblings and friends). These exhibitors will in one way or another help you out.
